Interviewed female commended the court for taking a brave and bold step in delivering this landmark judgment.
A woman right group AFRICAN WOMEN LAWYER (AWL) says the ruling will give the women a feeling of belonging in their father's house.
The coordinator of the AWL in Nigeria, River state chapter, Cordelia eke, says "women who were deprived of taken part in the sharing of their fathers' inheritance can now speak up"
She commends the complainant for speaking up and challenging this tradition in court. She went further to say this ruling has blazed most trials seeking equality and discrimination against women. Challenging women to follow her (complainant) footsteps challenging all negative laws, traditions, and culture that conflict the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.
Also, she called on all traditional leaders to abolish any custom and tradition that segregate women, of which such customs creates division among male and female in the community.
